Dawn English began volunteering for Animals for Awareness in July of 2009 after finding us on the internet. She loves playing with the wild “kitties”, which is a good thing, because one of her tasks is to clean the outside animals, including the wild cats. Dawn also tends to the raccoons, coatimundis and foxes. It’s a tedious job, especially in the winter!
One of Dawn’s most memorable moments was when she was changing the water in the lynx/bobcat cage. Our rather grumpy and timid bobcat “Ana” snuck up and stole the scrub brush right out of Dawn’s hand – a rather unusual and bold move for Ana. I’m sure there was no getting the brush back either!
Dawn is not without her own furry family member! She lives in Chicago with her pup “Toby”. She thinks he’s part beagle, part terrier. Sounds like a cutie!
Dawn is level-headed and makes a great addition to the volunteer team! Besides tending efficiently to the mundane tasks set before her, Dawn would like to get more involved in the educational programs. I think we can arrange that!
